this rules. my favourite two shows on tv, 24 and prison break, are being
released in 720p. thank you eztv for providing all this high quality stuff, and
most importantly, for doing it for free.

let\'s hope things continue in this format for both shows. 720p is the way of the
future for the scene.

not everyone has a $5000 plasma screen. they don't play on standalone divx
players, and neither do the hr's. so i don't see what the point is. who wants to
watch them on a pc?

i don't have a plasma screen, or even a tv for that matter. i watch them on a
pc. 1280x720 is much higher resolution than the standard releases, and somewhat
higher than the hr releases. if you have a monitor that can display an image at
a half decent resolution, you'll benefit from the higher resolution releases.

why bother arguing over "what's the point" and "who would want these" when
clearly there are individuals who would want them. just because you don't want
them doesn't mean others don't as well. that's not to say you're not entitled to
your opinion. i just don't understand people who come into threads and offer
comments such as the ones you offered. if it affected you, then maybe you'd have
a case. but if you don't want them, the solution is simple: download the
standard releases. they aren't going anywhere.

anyway, i digress. i wanted to add that, since these formats are relatively new
to eztv, they could probably use all the help they can get. i've been leaving
all eztv's 2007 720p torrents going (6 by my count so far) since they've been
released. i encourage everyone else to as well.

well that's why the 720p releases are optional. if your standalone divx player
can't play the hr.hd/720p releases, don't download them. i don't understand how
these releases being made available becomes a problem for you if you can't use
them anyway? just dl the 350mb releases like usual.

it's not really any different to back in the days when releases were always vcd
sized mpegs and then moved to xvid. move with the times i say.

i have an htpc connected to my hd lcd and the 720p releases are a marked
improvement. i am very happy that eztv are providing them as an option for the
most popular shows.

if you personally can't make use of the 720p, releases, don't download them -
it's that simple - but don't forget others might find value in them even if you
can't.

you seem to forget that 350 is smaller in filesize and does the job. so why
would they waste hosting a bigger sized, overkill file if 350 hdtv is
sufficient.

not if you use a tv/monitor that when you run the 350mb it doesn't look hot. but
the 720p look detailed to hell.. i personally collect 720p cause i have the
equipment that benefit from it.

i was only stating my 2 cents. i've only made one comment about this. being this
is a forum, i am entitled to do so. your opinion isn't the only one that counts.
relax and don't get your panties in a bunch.

i'm not sure why this is even a discussion topic anymore, eztv provide
torrents of what comes out of the scene. this isn't the place (and there isn't
a place) to complain about it at all. 350mb vs. 700mb vs. 720p vs. ur mom is a
pointless argument, both sides just spew out the same damn things ever time a
700mb release comes out first or there isn't a 720p rip available. bittorrent
has done something interesting to the scene, sure it's opened it up to more
people, but a lot of those people are bossy, whiny little ingrates. i know i
don't have to read these threads, but i still get use out of eztv if something
doesn't his usenet quick enough or i can't be assed pubbing around or heaven
forbid waiting on a xdcc queue (let's see some of you nubs wait three days for
a slot, then you might have something to complain about).

p.s. screw 720p, 5gig 1080p direct transport stream rips is where the shit's at!

it was your panties that were in a bunch while whining about 720p for no good
reason. post something useful or positive and you probably wont get flamed.

who wants to watch a 720p on a pc? i do.

why?

because i threw my tv out the window, and i'm never going back.

it's not healthy to subject yourself to commercials.

and a pc monitor is a progressive display. so i see all the detail.

the only thing better than a pc monitor is a new 1080p hdtv.
and check your prices. in the usa, a top-of-the-line sony is $3500,
not $5500 like it was a year or so ago when all you got was 1080i.

cheers poster! well said.
it's never been better than eztv, ever.
so clean. so very chill.

i might also add that you don't need a 1080 plasma screen to get the full
benefit of 720p. all you need is a 720p hdtv, which i just bought a couple
weeks ago for $850. i might also add that hdtv's similar to mine were one of
the top selling items of the christmas rush this year. so yeah. a lot of
people can benefit from 720p. as far as playbck goes, with a $200 video card
for your desktop you can output in full 720p via dvi-i to your hdtv. no new hd-
dvd or blu-ray player required. full widescreen display at full 720p hd res.

cents x 2 deposited.
